Bill left such a legacy behind...his wonderful wife and children, his beautiful grandchildren, his contributions to Laramie Baseball, and his many loyal clients. I remember him playing in a band in Douglas called the Cavemen with my brother-in-law, John Rider, who has also gone on to play in heaven. Maybe they are up there jamming together :) He will be sooooo missed by so many...what a great man. My thoughts and prayers are with each one of you. God Bless You.
ReplyDeleteBill’s passing came as a sudden surprise to everyone, but it sounds like he went down swinging in appropriate Bill fashion. I know he touched a lot of lives, which is apparent by the flood of people memorializing him. Bill was one of a few special people who selflessly devote their lives to community service. This field is his crowning achievement and will ensure his memory lives on. Bill was also special in that he saw the potential in everyone, like a painter working with a blank canvas, to develop every kid to be the best they could be. He encouraged everyone he knew to develop to their fullest potential and to always strive to improve, to never be satisfied, on and off the field. Ever since I first met him when I was only two years old Bill has been a positive role model and I always looked up to him like an uncle. I know he was proud of me and certainly proud of his kids (he talked about them all the time), and he should be because he played a major role in my development into who I am today. One thing is for sure- without Bill Hixenbaugh there would be a very different Chris Holmes, and I’m sure that goes for everyone he knew.
